The 1URL Bookmarklet is a feature that allows you to instantly make a short URL link from the website that you are currently on. First, install the 1URL Bookmarklet by either dragging it to your bookmarks/toolbar, or by right-clicking on it and adding it to your bookmarks manually. Then, whenever you are on a webpage that you want a short link made for, simply click on the 1URL Bookmarklet on your toolbar or bookmarks menu and you will automatically be forwarded to 1URL with the link ready for you to copy.

Yes. You can create short URLs with third party tools by using our simple API. If you call the script with the parameter “api” containing the API key "1url" and with the parameter “u” containing the URL you want to shorten, the script will deliver the short URL as result, e.g.:
http://1url.com/?api=1url&u=http://long-url.example.com
All links produced under 1URL.com never expire.
We do not tolerate spam at 1URL.com. If you are receiving spam from one of our links, we ask that you please e-mail us the offending link at webmaster(at)1url.com so that we may deactivate the link, trace the offender, and communicate with the offender's ISP.
